How YourOwnCulture Came to Be
As the year of 2020 proved to be a journey of immense hardship, fear, and pain on many levels for most of us; I felt the need to create a business that would attend to the multiple and immediate needs of our culture. Early in the year during the peak of the Global health crisis, I realized I could not find a suitable hand sanitizer in the market that was natural, and ethically produced with our planet in mind. To meet my needs during this delicate time, I exercised my "mad scientist" creative chops, and through a lot of trial and error, crafted an eco-sourced, non-drying, organic sanitizer, that smelled delicious! The idea for a mask refresher to combat the negative aspects of the mask-wearing experience, soon followed.
As the months progressed into Spring & Summer, it was evident & heartbreaking to grasp that our social justice systems were still very broken and as such, our culture was/is suffering greatly. The need to be a part of doing something more for the greater good was not an option; more than just knowing the injustice exists but to actually impact change for social injustice issues became critical. As interest & positive response grew with the YourOwnCulture products, I decided to elevate the social justice component into the core company mission. Raising awareness, educating broadly and deeply and keeping the conversation alive to ultimately impact positive social change, is our guiding purpose.
